URGENT WORKS FOR THE ESKHATIA STREAM
The project’s objective was to quickly improve the drainage conditions of the flood flows of the Eskhatia stream, through stream cleaning works, maintenance of existing sediment retention structures (check dams), maintenance of existing lateral protection and flood protection works, and interventions—improvements and additions to selected sections of the stream that required immediate attention to address the risk of flooding following the wildfires of August 2009.
Additionally, there was immediate intervention with the provision of machinery and personnel at any time of the day or night, including holidays and celebrations, to address urgent and emergency situations (extreme weather events, flood risk prevention, etc.). The works were carried out along the entire length of the stream, from its confluence with the Kifisos River to Thrakomacedones.
